Please follow my seven tips for your better SW Radio Listening Experience:
1) Keep your SW Radio away from Radio Frequency Interference (RFI) Generators like Laptop charger, Electronic Ballast, Light dimmer, AC adapters, Plasma TVs.
2) Stay Away from Electrical Noise Producing Appliances like Fluorescent/Neon Lamps, Computers, Air Conditioning Units and Generators etc.
3) Stay away from any kind of Transmitters (i.e. TV, Radio, Mobile),
4) Steel framed concrete buildings are not favorable for better Reception. So Try to place your Radio near the Window if possible facing the direction of the Broadcasting Transmitter.
5) Your SW Radio built-in antenna is enough for reproducing the transmitted audio but some time it is proved that an external antenna helps for better reception condition. Never use an antenna outside with open wire or without insulation wire. Radio manufacturer supplied long wire or reel antenna could be used for the safety from thunderstorms.
6) Use Rechargeable Batteries instead of AC adapters. Ac adapter often causes humming noise.
7) Most of Radio have tiny little speaker we can use Stereo headphone for better audio.
Hoping these 7 tips will be helpful for both New and Old Dxers, 73’s.

What is“White Poison”?
Do you know about “White Poison”? Let’s take a look. We are busier than ever and often don’t have time to search for healthy food. We also consume more carbohydrates these days – which converts to glucose. Glucose has a high glycemic index, which raises our blood sugar very quickly. Our pancreas then tries to produce more insulin to manage these excess sugars. Excess glucose is very harmful for our body. Most people do not perform heavy, manual work anymore, and that is what helps the body to consume all that excess glucose.
Our daily intake of carbohydrates comes from flour, rice and sugar. When these have been artificially refined, we call it “White Poison”. The refining process is used to whiten rice, flour and sugar by artificially adding chemicals. Any refined processing is bad for our health. This process not only adds chemicals, but also removes natural minerals and dietary fibers. The same thing occurs for table salt – organic salt is OK – but chemical white salt is not only bad, it’s the main source of cardiovascular diseases.
Let’s look at our daily intake of white foods… foods which have less fiber, essential vitamins, protein, nutrients, enzymes, and micro elements.
Dietary fibers are mostly removed from natural rice and flour, which is needed for a healthy bowel.
Perhaps you have heard of hydros. Hydros is a chemical toxic for human health, and is commonly used in sugar processing plants. To meet the white sugar demand, this chemical is used in treating white sugar.
The same thing happens with salt processing. Natural salt is a dark colour, and consumers don’t like that colour – we want it white!
Modern rice processing plants – called Auto Rice Mills – are also doing bad things. They cut the outer layer of rice and add various chemicals for smoothness and whitening. Rice losses its nutrients. The World Health Organization has warned us about this serious health-harming issue.
So what do we do now if we want to live healthily? It’s very simple. Go back in time, when our foods had wonderful fragrances and tastes – although those foods were often dark in color! These dark foods offer the vitamins, calcium, phosphorus, folic acid, copper, zinc, iron and fiber required for a healthy, better functioning body.
Here you can see those healthily colored foods -which you can try today for a healthier and chemical free life.
Many electrical appliances like TV, sound system, computer, printer and mobile chargers continue to draw power from the system even when they are kept standby mood. We can easily save this wasted energy by using Smart Power Strips or Advanced Power Strips. These power strips have a built in smart feature. They can shut off the devices power when they are not in use.
Avoid using bulk power consuming lights. We can use energy efficient lights like LED and CFL bulbs.
When you purchase any electrical or electronics appliances you should consider Energy Star compliant products. Some devices label it with star ratings, usually five star rating products have energy efficient features which draws less power when they are on standby mood.
Check for Insulation leaks in your house which may cause hot air entering to your room and run your Air coolers for longer time to cool your room. Same thing happens with your refrigerator too which causes the compressor to run longer time. This is a wasted energy which we have to pay for it.
Don’t use your Laundry, hair dryer, toaster, heater or electric iron and any other heavy power consuming loads at peak time where load demand is maximum, which causes more power drawing from the system and more billing.
Change traditional Electric Water heater thermostats to programmable thermostats. Traditional thermostats often don’t work properly.
Use smart meters or prepaid meters. These meters are very effective in communicating between consumer and their utility.
Try to implement natural cooling system in your building. In summer building roofs naturally receive more heat and sometimes it becomes intolerable. To minimize this suffering we use air conditioners to cool our room. Try to install green roof, which will create healthy and cool atmosphere. It could be a vegetation or solar systems.
You could use home solar systems both for heating purposes in kitchen and powering your house hold equipment.
Check your whole house wiring and switches and sockets which may cause bulk power losses. Long time loose connections generates heat and can damages your devices.
so stop this vampire today and let’s save our money.
I hope this post will be helpful for you.
